This exquisite example of the Art form know as Chintz is of Persian origin circ:1800. Lightweight white cotton cloth was transformed into this beautiful chintz using a complex technique of combining resist dyeing and hand block printing and hand painting with Indigo and mordant dyes. This was admired far and wide throughout Europe and Asia during the 1600th and 1700th century's for its vibrant and durable colours, fine quality, stunning pattern and design and of course its rarity. Peacocks feature and a variety of birds appear amid vines with decorative blossoms. A hunting scene featuring a tiger with his prey the deer are located at the bottom two corners in the main border on alternating ground colours of white, red, and blue. This rare door curtain / wall hanging is from Iran and dated Circ:1800 a beautiful example of this Art form.
